StuartCo has begun redevelopment of the former Holiday Inn on County Road E in Arden Hills, and will reopen the building late summer 2013 as student housing. The development will be called e street flats, and will offer 74 units with a mix of studio, one, two, and three bedroom flats for area college students. A full amenity packaged geared toward student life will include fitness center, bike storage, lounge, theater, game room, off-street parking and free internet & cable.
The development also houses retail space which will house Now Bikes & Fitness, slated to open in May of this year, with additional space available to other businesses.
The Holiday Inn closed about five years ago and the building housed Northwestern College students as a temporary solution for about a year and a half.
“While we are new to student housing, we bring over 40 years of managing rental housing to this property” said Lisa Moe, Chief Executive Officer of StuartCo. “We are really drawn to this area and location with the ability to service Bethel, Northwestern, Hamline, St. Thomas, University of Minnesota-St. Paul and Macalester with the convenience of grocery, retail, and restaurants in walking distance. We have already received great response from the community and residents who are enthusiastic about the reuse of the property.”
