It’s the time of year when high school and college students are wrapping up the school year. To all we say congratulations on completing another year; to those graduating, we offer our congratulations on your accomplishments.
A very special congratulations goes out to the student who is the recipient of our 2016 Stuart H. Nolan (SHN) Scholarship, Lauren!
Lauren is the daughter of One Southdale Place concierge team member Michelle Innes. She just completed her junior year at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where she is majoring in Food Systems and minoring in Public Health. Lauren is on course to graduate in May 2017.
In high school, Lauren was a member of the National Honor Society, played three sports, and volunteered with Special Ed students. She currently volunteers at the U of M’s Children’s Hospital, has interned at the Linden Hills Farmers Market, is a member of the U Students Like Good Food and Food Systems Majors student groups. She was also a leader of the Real Food Challenge, which looks at ways to increase access to “real” food on college campuses. Lauren is also involved with the organization Girls on the Run, serving as an assistant coach to elementary age girls.
Lauren’s goal is to make an impact on the lives of those who are underserved though a food systems and public health approach. She hopes to increase both food access and understanding to those who are currently lacking those two things. As Lauren’s SHN Scholarship essay states, “I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a healthy life.”
We believe you WILL one day help provide that opportunity to everyone, Lauren -Congratulations on your achievement!
