Louie Loves is a new blog series that has Louie, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with impeccable taste (and a big diva attitude) visiting our StuartCo communities and reporting back with his take on the property and the surrounding neighborhood.
I decided it was time to head to St. Paul and check out Highland Ridge, a luxury apartment community in the Shepard Park rental neighborhood.
Shepard Park is a gorgeous community adjacent to both Highland Park AND the river walking trails. With all the green space, the park is such a lovely place for a leisurely Sunday stroll—and we don’t even have to get in the car! Crosby Farm Regional Park is just down the road, and the trails make me feel like I’m a million miles out of the city! Not only that, they have grills, picnic areas, and fire pits—an all-in-one outdoor entertainment destination for my human and me!
But back to Highland Ridge.
The grand fountain in the foyer was absolutely royal, I felt right at home as soon as I walked in!
The minute [Leasing & Marketing Coordinator] Shannon saw me, she gave me lots of love and multiple treats—my two favorite things in the world. I was WAY too excited to sit down.
After I’d had my share of belly rubs, my human and I went to check out one of the apartments.
I didn’t think it could get any more grandiose than the fountain, but I was wrong. The apartment was so spacious with stainless steel appliances, hardwood floors, and our very own private patio space!
When my human needs a break from me (I know, I have no idea why she would need that either), Highland Ridge has an indoor pool and hot tub, fitness center with on-demand classes, and party room where she can entertain her friends.
And even though it wasn’t particularly sunny the day I visited, I still insisted we take a moment on the sun deck—this is the perfect place for a picnic or a barbecue after a swim in the pool.
Speaking of food, I was still hungry even after all the treats I got from the nice staff, so my human and I hopped in our car and headed down the street to Woody’s Pet Food Deli, a place that prides itself on homemade pet food made with REAL meat—yum! I love that it’s just a short car ride from Highland Ridge, because I couldn’t wait to get my paws on that food!
For our last stop of the day, we decided to head to the new Lowertown Dog Park, just outside of CHS Field (aka home of the St. Paul Saints). I was SO impressed by the beautiful design, the drinking water ONLY for dogs, and all the space there was to run around! I love that this is right downtown, a stone’s throw from Highland Ridge.
The convenience of being close to downtown and yet only four miles away from MSP Airport can’t be beat. There is so much to see and do; the location is absolutely ideal. After a full day of fun in the neighborhood, I would love coming home to my cozy apartment at Highland Ridge!
