There’s no place like home for the holidays…
And we might be biased, but we think the Midwest does it best when it comes to holiday activities. We asked our team members for their favorites during this festive season.
Holidazzle Village
You can’t do the holiday season in the Twin Cities without paying a visit to the Holidazzle Village. Located in Loring Park (right next to 430 Oak Grove), this Minnesota tradition includes a market, food and beverages, an ice skating rink, movie nights, fireworks and a chance to meet with Santa Claus himself!
Shakopee Winter Wonderland
The southern suburb of Shakopee is not only home to our Eagle Creek Townhomes, but also to the Shakopee Winter Wonderland, an old-fashioned, residential holiday light display assembled by three generations of a local family. It includes a moving ferris wheel, merry-go-round, train, and more.
Spirit of Winter Festival of Lights
If you feel like venturing a little west, take part in the Spirit of Winter Festival of Lights at The Soverign Estate Winery in Waconia, a beautiful light display for all ages.
Minnesota Arboretum
The Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chaska features a Winter Gift Market, holiday teas, live holiday music, outdoor light displays, and visits with Santa—a one-stop shop for fabulous holiday memories.
Elm Creek Winter Recreation Area
If you’re feeling adventurous, head to the Elm Creek Winter Recreation Area, which features a lighted tubing hill, a ski and snowboard hill, and almost 18K of cross-country ski trails.
Visiting relatives out of state this season?
Downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin lights up each year with their annual Holiday Festival—our team at NorthPointe says it is not to be missed!
The teams at Washburn on the Park and RiverPlace recommend the Rotary Lights and or the Lights Over La Crosse should you find yourself in their quaint Wisconsin town.
And if you’re visiting Omaha, you’ll definitely want to check out the new Rooftop Rink and Holiday Lights Festival. (Thanks to our team at Southwest Gables for these fantastic recommendations!)
Looking for entertainment beyond December?
The Music Under Glass Concert Series at the Como Zoo is a must. Spend your January Sundays enjoying free music in a beautiful setting with appetizers and beverages available for purchase.
